Five Carolina Meadows residents were honored at the March Residents Association meeting with Presidential Citations, which recognized their service to the Carolina Meadows community.

   Resident Association President, Dud Waldner, cited Katrine Rieley for her service as chair of the Welcome Committee and membership in nine other committees, including terms as secretary of the Residents Association.

   Esther and Murray Bovarnick together or individually have served on ten committees, and Murray organized and moderated two very successful daylong forums at which retired Foreign Service officers addressed issues of U.S. foreign policy. As Waldner noted, Esther is the Carolina Meadows liaison with CORA (Chatham Outreach Alliance), the Chatham County Emergency Food Pantry, acting as worker, recruiter, publicist and in any other capacity in which she can be of help.”

   Waldner cited Alice and Jim Lash for service separately or together as chairs or members of 16 committees. He wrote: “Your experience, talents, and expertise have benefited not only the residents of Carolina Meadows but the community at large.” Jim has worked with the audio equipment for meeting rooms, for the special benefit of those with hearing problems. In addition, both serve with Meals on Wheels.
