Our History
Founded in 1983, Carolina Meadows was created by retirement industry professionals who wanted to start a community in which they themselves would want to live. They adopted a relatively new model of retirement living where the residents retained an equity position in the community itself. Based on that premise, they founded Equity Retirement Housing (ERH), which is known today as Carolina Meadows.
In the first year of operation, 104 residents moved into 72 homes comprised of villas and apartments. In the coming decade, two major expansions took place to accommodate growing demand. More villas and apartment buildings were constructed, as well as the Wellness Center and expansion of the Club Center.
Today, Carolina Meadows serves approximately 700 residents, and is planning its next phase of expansion.
