Dining Services
The dining program at Carolina Meadows has been described by residents as “exceptional,” “better than you’d find at any other community.” That’s due, in large part, to an executive dining staff that was trained at the Culinary Institute of America and a base of community residents who appreciate well-made food.
“Our goal is to provide quality meals, great variety and excellent service. We actively seek feedback at each meal by visiting residents at the table, by reading the written comment cards, and through our semi-annual written Resident Survey.”
—Mark Maxwell, Director of Dining Services.
How the dining plan works.
Unlike many retirement communities, residents are not required to pay for one meal daily. Instead, they spend a minimum dollar amount. This minimum amount can be paid monthly, quartely or semi annually — just as you’d find in a fine country club. This allows you to pay only for the meals that you choose to enjoy in our Dining Room rather than feeling like you have to rush home for a meal you already paid for—as is the case in most retirement communities.
Carolina Meadows is licensed as a Private Club and provides liquor bottle lockers for a fee and free mixers for members. We also serve a selection of popular wine and beers for any resident or guest.
Giving Residents what they want throughout the day, and year.
Breakfasts
A full breakfast is offered a la carte in The Cafe for any resident or guest Monday through Saturday. A Continental Breakfast is offered on Sundays in the Private Dining Room.
Lunches
A buffet lunch is offered weekdays and Sundays where residents may select from two freshly made soups, a salad of the day and salad bar, three homestyle entrees, three vegetables, freshly baked breads including a bread carving station and dessert bar including frozen yogurt. In addition, we offer a menu of popular grill and sandwich items that are made to order. On Thursdays we add a self-service cold sandwich buffet and on Sundays we hand carve a roast meat or do a display cooking station. For smaller appetites, we offer specially reduced price combos such as soup n’ salad and half sandwiches.
Dinners
On Mondays we offer a City Diner menu that is completely a la carte and features popular appetizer, entree and dessert selections.
A buffet dinner is offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays also with a la carte grill and sandwich items. In addition, we offer a selection of “Heart Healthy” options including broiled steak, fish and chicken, a no-cholesterol omelet and a vegetarian vegetable plate. Every Tuesday and Thursday we offer a display cooking station that may be anything from hand carved Prime Rib, to stir fry, to chocolate fondue, to flambeed crepes with cherries.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, an upscale, restaurant style menu is featured with all entrees served a la carte. Soups and salads are served by the waitstaff along with the self-service dessert bar.
One Monday each month, we feature “Birthday Night” and offer a special upscale menu with a preset salad, choice of three entrees, fixed vegetables and a significant dessert buffet. This gives us the opportunity to try new dishes, some of which make it into future menus.
Holiday Dining
On the six major holidays we offer a special buffet menu at noon that may include picnic style food and ambiance or a traditional family upscale menu. For those waiting for seating we provide a hospitality table of refreshments and hors d’oeuvre.
Theme Dinners
Approximately four times each year we offer a Theme Dinner with decorations. These are usually buffet dinners for better flexibility. Previous themes have been “Secrets of the CIA”, A Festival in Rio, A Tuscan Dinner, Dinner in Cairo, etc., and feature authentic recipes and foods.
Catering Services
We offer full catering services with a wide variety of menus and prices both in the Private Dining Room (for up to 60), the Auditorium (for up to 250) and anywhere on campus including residents’ homes. Menus are custom designed for the occasion for selection and price and are similar to anything expected in a fine country club.
Convenience
For residents convenience, we offer fresh bread, milk and eggs for home shopping from the Club Centre.
Delivery
For a nominal fee we will deliver a meal to the residents’ home. Residents call our delivery and reservation number and place their order from our daily menu.
