As a continuing-care community, Carolina
Meadows is committed to the idea that a complete spectrum
of health, wellness, and support services should be available
to you whenever you need it. Achieving a state of wellness
comprises a number of components physical, mental,
social, and spiritual. Carolina Meadows offers a wide variety
of opportunities to achieve each component of wellness.
Carolina
Meadows offers a broad range of physical fitness opportunities,
such as stretch and tone, water walking, arthritis aquatics,
balance, flexercise, weight training, yoga, and Tai Chi. We
also offer line dancing and square dancing classes and a myriad
of nutrition and wellness seminars. There are many opportunities
to socialize, including movie nights, game days, social hours,
group outings, and card tournaments. Worship services and
other spiritual events are held on-site.
For
most day-to-day health care needs, you need not leave campus
-- just drop by the Carolina Meadows Community Health Clinic.
Several full-time nurse practitioners and registered nurses,
who handle hundreds of resident visits each month, staff the
clinic. They dispense routine care, such as blood pressure
check-ups and brief examinations, all of which are included
in your monthly fees. The Community Health Clinic also offers
a wide range of physician services, including specialties
such as dermatology and podiatry. If you choose, you can receive
much of your primary medical care right on campus.
Emergency
care is always close by at Carolina Meadows. Each home has
a call system that is monitored 24 hours per day. Professional
nurses from the Community Health Clinic and the Health Center,
as well as trained security personnel, are among the first
responders when an emergency call comes in. We also provide
home visits to monitor residents with chronic needs or those
unable to visit the Community Health Clinic.
Residents
have access to some of the most advanced medical care in the
world at the renowned teaching hospitals affiliated with the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University
in nearby Durham.
